Kahl Microwaxes

Microcrystalline waxes are a petroleum hydrocarbon but have an amorphous crystalline structure, unlike paraffin wax, which has a pure crystalline structure. Microwax differs from paraffin wax as it has approximately ten times the oil absorption capacity.

Originally, ozokerite wax was known as shale wax, which was mined in North America. In more recent times, it’s a mixture of petroleum hydrocarbon waxes, which produce waxes with a number of distinctive characteristics.

1847 Hydrogenated Microcrystalline Wax

Pale-coloured hydrocarbon wax consisting of branched-chain hydrocarbons derived from mineral oil.*

Applications
  • 1847 is used as a plasticiser in wax blends as it supports to homogenise solvent-based wax products. It’s widely used for chewing gum bases and food packaging. 1847 is also suitable as basic wax for cosmetic emulsions.

1899 Ozokerite

White, medium-hard hydrocarbon wax based on n- and isoparaffins.

Applications
  • 1899 is used in stick preparations. It stabilises melting point and hardness and regulates viscosity in W/O emulsions, pastes and oleogels.

2389 Ozokerite

Special white blend of selected hydrocarbon fractions with a high quantity of branched chained hydrocarbons.

Applications

2715 Microcrystalline Wax (W445)

White petrochemical wax consisting of branched-chain hydrocarbons. Plasticiser that supports homogenisation of solvent-based wax products.

Applications
  • 2715 can be used as plasticiser that supports homogenisation of solvent-based wax products. It is also suitable for chewing gum bases, cosmetic emulsions and stick preparations.

2851 Microcrystalline Wax

Pale-coloured microcrystalline wax consisting mainly of isoparaffinic and naphthenic hydrocarbons.

Applications
  • 2851 enhances viscosity and improves oil binding of wax dispersions, cosmetic emulsions and stick preparations. It complies with the BfR requirement XXV, FDA chapter 21 CFR 172.886, and the purity requirements as food additive (E905) according to EU regulation 231/2012.

4180 Synthetic Wax

White, hard, high-melting hydrocarbon wax. Reduces viscosity, increases hardness and raises the melting point of hot melts. Leads to very high gloss when used in stick preparations.*

Applications
  • 4180 conforms to BfR requirement XXV part C for synthetic hard paraffin. It’s widely used in lipsticks as it generates high gloss. 4180 reduces viscosity of hot melts by raising hardness and melting point. It’s compliant with the parameters of E number E905 (EG-VO 231/2012) and can also be used for polishing chewing gum balls and candies.

6001 Ozokerite

6095 Ozokerite

Bleached white hydrocarbon wax with a narrow chain length distribution and excellent oil-binding capacity.

Applications
  • Due to its excellent oil binding properties, 6095 is used in cosmetics and technical products like polishes.

6202 Ozokerite

White hydrocarbon wax with very similar chemistry and application to natural ozokerites. Shows excellent oil binding capacity, especially in lipsticks. Stabilises viscosity of W/O emulsions and enhances storage stability without raising viscosity. Higher in molecular weight and viscosity than most other ozokerites.*

  • 6202 shows excellent oil binding capacity, especially in lipsticks where it’s also used to regulate melting point and hardness. 6202 stabilises the consistency of W/O emulsions and enhances storage stability without raising viscosity.

6294 Ozokerite

White blend of different hydrocarbon waxes, with excellent oil binding capacity and high melting point.*

Applications
  • Due to its high melting point and excellent oil binding properties, 6294 works very well in anhydrous stick preparations, oleogels and other oil-based pastes.

6415 Synthetic Wax

White wax with excellent solvent retention and buffering properties. Especially designed for solvent and emulsion wax polishes.

Applications
  • 6415 is especially designed for solvent and emulsion wax polishes. It significantly eases the application of polishes. 6415 complies with FDA (175.105/175.250/177.1200) as indirect food additive in adhesives and coatings for food packaging.

7050 Synthetic Wax

Pale-coloured polymer of special olefin fractions. Soluble in aliphatic solvents and mineral oil at temperatures of approx. 50 ℃.

7366 Ozokerite

High melting, white hydrocarbon wax. Improves oil-binding in stick preparations. Viscosity control agent for W/O emulsions.

Applications
  • 7366 is mainly used in lipsticks and lip balms to improve oil binding capacity. 7366 works also as a viscosity agent for water and oil emulsion, oleogels and other anhydrous systems.

7395 Ozokerite

Pale-coloured wax, mainly consisting of branched chained hydrocarbons. Increases oil retention of pastes and works as a thickener in W/O emulsions.

  • 7395 increases the oil retention of pastes and anhydrous systems, and works as a thickener in W/O emulsions. 7395 is also suitable for solvent retention and crystallisation improver in polishes.

7475 Microcrystalline Wax

Hard, white microcrystalline wax, suitable for stick formulations. Improves heat resistance and raises the melting point of sticks without making them too brittle.*
